Diazepam (or similar medications) for hospital / dental procedures

We do not prescribe diazepam (or similar medications) for hospital or dental procedures.

The decision is based on:

  • Safety considerations (e.g., need for clinical monitoring, risk of respiratory depression, impairment on driving, contraindications)

  • Potential for dependence/misuse

  • Lack of continuity of monitoring when medication is used off-site

  • Guidance from local prescribing committees and best-practice risk management

Please contact your consultant or dentist to discuss any support that may be required for an upcoming procedure.

Thank you for your understanding.
